The Death, Burial, and Rising of Jesus

Once Jesus had finally died on his cross, he was taken to a garden and placed in a tomb by Joseph. On a sunday morning, Mary Magdalene visited Jesus' tomb. Surprisingly, though, the stone that covered it was gone. Thinking that somebody took his body, she goes to warn some of the disciples. When Peter and the other disciple checked the tomb, all they found was the cloths that wrapped Jesus. After, they just left for home.

Later, Mary stoop outside the tomb crying. Then, she looked inside the tomb, "and saw two angels dressed in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been," John 20:12. After, she turns around and, to her surprise, Jesus appeared to her. He instructed Mary to go his disciples and tell them that he will return to his Father, God.

That sunday evening, the disciples hid behind locked doors due to their fear of the Jewish Authorities. Immediately, Jesus appeared before them saying, "peace be with you. As the father sent me, so I send you." John 20:21. However, Thomas did not believe it was Jesus until the scars were shown. A week later, the disciples were inside again and Jesus appeared to them, showing his scars. He said to Thomas, "Put your fingers here and look at my hands; then reach out your hand and put it in my side. Stop doubting, and believe!" John 20:27.

Finally, Jesus appears to his disciples the third time, this time at Lake Tiberias. As they were fishing, and not succeeding in catching a thing, they notice Jesus standing at the water's edge, but they did not know it was him. He finds out they have not caught anything, so he said to them, "throw your net out on the right side of the boat, and you will catch some." John 21:6. Right away, their net was full of fish. Then, the disciples realise it is Jesus and they sailed to him.

When they all ate, Jesus told Peter if he loved him three times (the same number of times Peter betrayed Jesus.) Peter said yes and Jesus told him to take care of his sheep.
